What mattress is better than Saatva?
Established in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer high-end bed mattress under 3 brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils offer the Saatva Classic a good quantity of bounce near the top, and a plush top adds softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s mattresses, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box.

Note: Saatva just recently updated the Zenhaven, changing the kind of latex utilized in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the differences listed below. We plan to test the brand-new variation quickly and will update this guide with our impressions.
The Zenhaven is also flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Mild Firm side feels a bit firmer), which may prove helpful if you’re not sure what you choose or if your requirements alter over time. This is not a conventionally cushy mattress, however it offers a flexible cushion, great edge support, and a subtle springiness.
For this evaluation, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven bed mattress for several weeks in my own home. These mattresses were also assessed in our group tests conducted for Wirecutter’s guides to the best foam mattresses and the finest innerspring mattresses. As Wirecutter’s senior personnel author for sleep, I’ve spoken with ratings of experts in the bed mattress industry and in products science; checked out dozens of mattress factories, stores, and showrooms; and pored over the fine print on specifications, warranties, and return policies. Most just recently, monitoring editor Courtney Schley examined the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her house for numerous weeks.

We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environmentally friendly” brands. We do know that the business uses thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to chemicals or fiberglass) and only natural cotton (rather of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress business, Saatva promotes such additionals as zoned layers for “optimal spinal column assistance”; we’re less satisfied with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer service and resilient foams and coils.
