What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer luxury mattresses under three brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils offer the Saatva Classic a great quantity of bounce near the top, and a luxurious top adds softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is delivered by movers, rather than in a box.
Considerations: Saatva Memory Foam Pillow
The Saatva’s comfort system utilizes thinner layers of foam than lots of hybrid designs. These thinner layers of foam combined with the Euro-top’s fiber fill absorb some movement, decreasing how much movement is felt throughout the surface area of the bed. Sleepers might still experience some motion transfer when their partner modifications position or gets up during the night due to the mattress’s two layers of springs. Thanks to its softer feel, the Plush Soft variation of the Saatva absorbs slightly more movement than the Luxury Firm and Firm choices. While all of the Saatva firmness alternatives have pressure-relieving potential, the amount of pressure relief that a private experiences on the bed mattress will differ based partially on their weight and sleep position. Individuals who weigh under 130 pounds will likely experience the most press relief on the Plush Soft variation of the bed mattress, while sleepers over 230 pounds will likely get the very best balance of contouring and support from the Company variation.
Note: Saatva recently updated the Zenhaven, altering the kind of latex utilized in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now features Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the differences listed below. We prepare to test the new variation soon and will upgrade this guide with our impressions.
The Zenhaven is also flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Company side feels a bit firmer), which may prove useful if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your needs alter over time. This is not a conventionally cushy bed mattress, but it provides a supple cushion, great edge support, and a subtle springiness.
These bed mattress were also assessed in our group tests conducted for Wirecutter’s guides to the finest foam bed mattress and the finest innerspring mattresses. As Wirecutter’s senior staff author for sleep, I’ve talked to scores of experts in the bed mattress market and in materials science; visited dozens of mattress shops, factories, and display rooms; and pored over the fine print on requirements, guarantees, and return policies.

We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environment-friendly” brand names. But we do understand that the company utilizes thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (rather than fiberglass or chemicals) and just natural cotton (instead of artificial blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress business, Saatva promotes such bonus as zoned layers for “ideal spine assistance”; we’re less impressed with those functions and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer service and resilient foams and coils.
