What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer high-end mattresses under 3 brand name names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils provide the Saatva Classic a great quantity of bounce near the top, and a plush top adds softness. As with all of the Saatva Business’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is delivered by movers, rather than in a box.

Note: Saatva recently updated the Zenhaven, altering the type of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now features Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the distinctions listed below. We prepare to check the new variation quickly and will update this guide with our impressions.
The all-foam Zenhaven consists mainly of latex, which is fundamentally durable. The Zenhaven is also flippable (the High-end Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Mild Firm side feels a bit firmer), which may prove useful if you’re uncertain what you prefer or if your needs alter over time. This is not a conventionally cushy bed mattress, however it offers a flexible cushion, excellent edge support, and a subtle springiness. Provided its inherent durability, the Zenhaven should work well for people who weigh more than 200 pounds.

As Wirecutter’s senior staff author for sleep, I’ve spoken with ratings of professionals in the mattress industry and in products science; visited lots of mattress shops, factories, and showrooms; and pored over the fine print on specs, warranties, and return policies.

We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “eco-friendly” brands. We do know that the business utilizes thistle pulp or organic wool as a flame retardant (as opposed to fiberglass or chemicals) and just natural cotton (rather of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online mattress companies, Saatva touts such additionals as zoned layers for “optimum spine support”; we’re less impressed with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer service and resilient foams and coils.
